Breast cancer cell

Color enhanced scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a human breast cancer cell grown in tissue culture. Breast cancer, a malignant neoplasm of the breast, is the most common cancer in women. Malignant tumors generally metastasize - cells spread to different parts of the body through blood or lymph. There they stimulate capillaries to provide them with a blood supply, disrupt local tissue and grow into new tumors. Magnification = x500 at 35mm.
