Only approximately 4% of the lymphocytes are found in the blood, 70% are in the lymphatic system organs, 10% are in the bone marrow, and the rest are in other organs. Antigens can activate the lymphoctyes to reproduce by cell division and to destroy or phagocytize foreign bodies, such as bacteria. Magnification = 5,000x
