TEM: Viruses: Adenoviruses: 47 serotypes of adenoviruses are found worldwide. The incubation period of the virus is 5-8 days. They can attack the epithelial cells of the upper respiratory organs, which progresses like an angina and cause potentiallyfatal pneumonia in infants. Another type causes only conjunctivitis of the eye which generally cures itself. A third type causes enteritis of the small intestine in toddlers and small children. The infection is transferred by fecal-oral contact and through fluids. Infection by adenoviruses leads to immunization. Magnification = 130.000x
