Enterobacter cloacae


Bacteria: Enterobacter cloacae. A cluster of bacteria. Enterobacter cloacae are rod-shaped, Gram- negative bacilli. They exist in water, soil, sewage, the intestinal and urinary tracts of humans and animals. Enterobacter cloacae may be cause of infections of intestinal and urinary tract. also in respiratory tract in hospital patients with lowered immunity. It also may infect wounds on the skin. Usually treated with penicillin, but often shows resistance to multiple antibiotics.
