Lactic acid bacteria. SEM of the bacteria lactobacillus bulgaricus. They are rod shaped, gram positive bacteria, and grow in acid media. L. Bulgaricus produces lactic acid from the fermentation of carbohydrates and is produced by the fermentation of milk. Magnification-14.000x.
