Cat flea

IMAGE NUMBER: E00289 LICENSE: RIGHTS MANAGED

Cat flea (ctenocephalides felis). The cat flea has strong hind legs and can jump one foot high. The bloodsucking adult flea remains on the host and lays its eggs in the fur. Usually, the eggs fall to the ground, allowing the larval stages to feed on organic matter and the dried blood feces of the adult flea in the carpeting or other substrates.
