Viral research

IMAGE NUMBER: P6197 LICENSE: RIGHTS MANAGED

Viral research. Researcher inoculates blood agar plates with a virus. The petri dishes seen here contain a blood 'culture medium', onto which a virus is being introduced with a glass loop by gloved hands. The virus will infect blood cells contained in the culture, and enable a viral study to be conducted. Viruses that infect blood include Hepatitis B and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which causes AIDS.
