Gas flame

Combustion. Close-up of the flame coming from a domestic natural gas burner. Natural gas together with coal and oil, is one of the world's three main fossil fuels. It is a gaseous mixture, consisting mainly of methane, found in the Earth's crust. Combustion occurs as a rapid exothermic chemical reaction between oxygen and the combustible elements of a fuel which, for natural gas are carbon and hydrogen.
