African male lion

African male lion (Panthera leo). Males are distinguished by the large mane around their neck. Lions are carnivorous big cats which inhabit the savanna and scrub of southern and eastern Africa, and parts of southern Asia. They are the only truly social cat, living in large groups called prides of about 20 individuals, including two or three males, several females, and their young.
