Torso with heart and kidneys

Illustration of a male torso with heart and kidneys. The heart is a cone shaped organ that circulates blood through the body. Each minute the heart beats 70 times and pumps about 5 quarts (4.7 liters) of blood. 1800 gallons (6768 liters) of blood are pumped through the heart every day. Kidneys are bean-shaped organs, each about the size of a fist. Each day, the kidneys process about 200 quarts of blood to sift out about 2 quarts of waste products and extra water. The waste and extra water become urine, which flows to the bladder.
