Crusader Castle of Kerak

The city and the crusader castle of Kerak was built in 1142 and became one of the major strategically situated cities of the province of Arabia. Reynald de Chatillon broke a treaty safeguarding the passage of caravans through the area and used it as a base for raiding. Salah ad-Din (Saladin) eventually captured the castle in 1188.
